About us

The need for
critical minerals

The global megatrends of population growth and electrification are set to strengthen over the coming decades.

Securing critical minerals for the future is one of the sectors largest opportunities, which requires significant capital investment, and is a catalyst for positive transformational change.

Critical minerals are essential for a sustainable future

Critical minerals are vital to our societies and economies as they are key to unlocking a more sustainable and globally equitable future.

From copper-intensive infrastructure, such as wires in the national grid and renewable energy projects; to platinum group metals which are effective in reducing greenhouse gas emissions; and fertilizers which enhance crop productivity – access to these minerals are integral to our societies prosperity and supply chains must be secured.

With the onset of the green energy transition and sustained population growth, mineral demand is exploding. As a response to years of underinvestment within the sector, and impending supply deficits, governments are implementing a multitude of policies to both incentivize and secure the supply of critical minerals for their industries and to meet their zero carbon emission deadlines.

There are currently 35 critical mineral partnership agreements globally, and 6 multilateral agreements, including the US-led Minerals Security Partnership(1)

Driving the green energy transition through critical mineral investments

Critical minerals are fundamental in enabling the green energy transition, and demand for critical minerals in clean technologies is expected to continue to grow [and will require more materials to be mined]. Renewable energy infrastructures are much more materially intensive than their fossil fuel counterparts.

According to the World Bank, to sustain global growth we must develop as much copper in the next 22 years as we have in all human history.

At CD Capital we are focussed on investing in critical mineral projects to support a sustainable future. Our portfolio  includes one of the largest copper district discoveries of the past decade, and one of the largest undeveloped copper-nickel-PGM deposits globally, and is located Europe.

Addressing global food security through fertilizer projects

With one in ten people currently facing hunger, the threat of food security is only set to become more prevalent as the world’s population is forecast to reach 10 billion by 2050. We need to produce more food, and on less land, as climate change alters growing seasons and urbanization continues

To do this, fertilizers are needed as they make arable land more productive. At CD Capital we understand how globally significant it is to ensure global food security, and therefore we have made several meaningful investments in fertilizer projects. For example, our investment in Brazil promises to deliver essential fertilizer ingredients to end-user farmers locally for a fraction of their current costs.
